Past tense or present perfect tense should I use?

Here is a senario:

I live in HongKong and I went to "someplace" in Jan this year.
Now is May, I am already back to HK now and want to report to my boss.

So, which sentence(s) is/are correct?

A) I followed my colleagues to "someplace" for 11 days
B) I have followed my colleagues to "someplace" for 11 days

there are several concerns for me :
Sentence A: Using past tense with a time (for 11 days), but don't we just use (for a period of time) in present perfect tense?
Can we use it in past tense?

Sentence B: Present perfecet tense with a time (for 11 days), however, using present perfect tense with a "for", will it give an impression(or I should say suggestion) that the event is still going on, and I am not back to HongKong now?

Please help me!
