In English the present and past have three forms, simple, continuous, and emphatic:

I skateboard every day. (simple present)
I am skateboarding every day (present continuous)
I do skateboard every day. (present emphatic)

I skateboarded every day. (simple past)
I was skateboarding every day. (past continuous)
I did skateboard every day. (past emphatic)
