past tense

Hi,

If I tell people a story about my past and then I want to emphasize that what I have told them is the truth, should say:

"This rundown, by the way, is the truth." or
"This rundown, by the way, was the truth." ?

Thank you

'Rundown' is not a suitable word. It's more of an analysis. I suggest simply This is/was a true story.

Thank you. My focus is on the choice between is / was. Does it matter which one I use?
