past tense

I want to talk about the past study. Please see below, Is the use of past tense (was) right in this context? Thank you.
The author performed qualitative analysis to study risk and return in the case of acquisition. In the study, the strength of qualitative research was that it was useful for examining a small number of cases in depth.
