past tense

Hi all,
Can I use past continuous tense for "a month ago"? i know that we must use past simple tense with "ago", but is it possible to use past continuous?
Ex: One month ago, I was travelling to the U.S.

That's fine, if you want to describe the action that was in progress. eg One month ago, I was traveling to the US. I was sitting in a plane.
