past tense ??

Hey, I have a question...
We wrote an english test and there was one confusing sentence for me :
Since my grandpa sold his car, he was going to his work by bike.

or

Since m granpa had sold his car... ?

Can you help me ? :-) Which tense does fit the best ?

Hi, I'd say this: Since my grandfather sold his car, he had to go to work by bike. Or: Since my grandfather sold his car, he went to work by bike. Note that grandpa sounds somewhat informal and is usually used in speech.

Or:

Since my grandfather sold his car, he went to work by bike.

Note that grandpa sounds somewhat informal and is usually used in speech.

There isn't much call for the past perfect or the past continuous, really.
