Past tense

CAn I say "please be seated". IS it grammatically correct? B'coz "seated" is the past tense. Is "seated" a verb in this sentence.

Thanks,
Varsha

'Seated' is not past tense here; it is the -ed verb used to form the passive voice verb 'to be seated' However, to forestall protest, I will also suggest that 'Please be seated' is a set phrase, and 'seated' approaches the function of adjective here.
