I'm not sure what tense I should use in this sentence:
"Kate used to live in a small town where people ........ one another."
Is it all right, if I use "know"? By this I understand that Kate doesn't live in this small town any more, but the people there still know one another.
Or maybe I should used "knew"? "Kate used to live in a small town where people knew one another."
