PAST SIMPLE OR PRESENT PERFECT

Hello teacher

I saw this sentence, I think there is a mistake

It is the worst band we had ever to deal with.
That should be" we have ever had" to deal with .This action relates to the present ,now "This is ", if it was connected to the past we should have" was" , I mean we still have to deal with that band.

Let me know what is your point of view
