past simple or present perfect

Hello

Shall I say

I have woken up early today because I don't want to miss my favourite serie on Tv or I woke up early today because I don't want to miss my seie on tv

If we say "I've woken up early today, because I don't want to miss...", doesn't it mean that the serial is still in futuer i.e., still to come? Doesn't "I woke up early today because I didn't want to miss..." convey the idea that the speaker either watched it or missed it?

No. Because the reason for your early rise is established in the past, probably before you went to sleep and set your alarm clock.

I did not want to miss my program (first action), so I woke up early (second action).

Is it becasue of the verb 'want' that the past simple tense (woke up) is the correct tense to choose? I wanted it even before I woke up; I had it in my mind bofore I woke up.

Yes. The time order is different though.

For me this sentence "I have woken..............on tv"means that the serie is a future event it has not happened yet
Is that correct?
