past simple or present perfect?

"She (has studied/ studied) marketing in collage, then (has found/ found) a job.

I would use the simple past to tell the story.

To describe her to someone, in terms of her interests, for example, I would say

She has studied marketing in college.

Native speakers tend to use simple past in cases like the one above even though a result can be seen in the present. Why is that? I was told that native speakers didn't take such facts into account when speaking. Is that true? I do, sometimes. Shouldn't I?
