which of these setences are correct:

1. I didn't watch news today

2. I haven't watched news today

what about these:

a. I didn't watch news yesterday

b. I haven't watched news yesterday

"The reason the one he has crossed out is incorrect is because you don't use a time marker with the present perfect."

Of course you can use time marker with present perfect, just it shouldn't be definite time in the past.

As you can see, "I haven't checked my email today" is also present perfect with time marker, in contrary to your explanation.
