Past simple instead of Present perfect

Hello,

How to explain to a student the use of past simple instead of present perfect in such situations;

A)'Mummy, look what I have found!'
'Where did you find it?'
'I found it in the yard.'

B)Have you ever been to Florida?

Yes, we were there last year.

Did you have a good time?

Yes, it was great.

Thanks
