There's an exercise about the difference of the two forms mentioned above.
One has to complete sentences using the two forms.
We WENT rafting last week. I'VE GONE rafting twice.
I know the second sentence should be completed with I'VE BEEN. But, considering that the task of the exercise says clearly that one has to build the two forms of the verb GO, is a sentence with the Present perfect of GO (I'VE GONE...) totally unacceptable or it would make sense?
