Past simple

I was doing some exercises in English and I came upon a problem.
I would need some help with a sentence.

I wonder who it belonged to? - I wonder who did it belong to?

Which one is the correct one, i.e. what is the difference between them?

Thank you,

Nat

Anonymous I wonder who it belonged to? The one I have quoted is right. Because of I wonder the question is indirect, which means that did isn't used.
