Past Real Conditions

Hello,

Could we rewrite the following sentence"

"When I had a day off from work, I often went to the beach". Now, I never get time off.

as:

"When I had a day off from work, I would often go to the beach".

Because it has been a habitual and repetitive action?

Thanks

Whenever I had a day off, I would go to the beach.
On my days off, I would go to the beach.
