Past perfect with until (specific date in past)

Hi, can somebody tell me if Past Perfect tense should be used before the particular date in past?

For example: The immobilization by using a gypsum langete had been performed until 2017 10 16.

Top answer

We usually use the Simple Past in cases where the sequencing is clear, as it is here. eg The immobilization by using a gypsum langete was performed until 2017 10 16. The context can also play a role in choosing the tense.
