I think it is a widely spread practice to use a past perfect with a subject that isn't a human or living thing, but despite my awareness of it, it still gives me an uneasy feeling whenever I try to use in sentences. Do you have some tips?
The high unemployment ratehas done/brought some palpable damage to people's psyche.
Who/what has done it? Usually I feel it is a living being or thing who has done anything and to attribute the identity of a 'doer' to something other than a living being or thing is what bothers me as I try to form a nice sentence.
