Past Perfect Time Frame

Hi!

I'm a little confused with this dialogue. (why is the word "dialogue" has a red underline? Did I spell it incorrectly?)Emotion: sad

A. Why didn't Mr. and Mrs. Henderson see a movie last weekend?

B. They didn't want to. They had seen a movie the weekend before.

"The Past Perfect expresses the idea that something occurred before another action in the past"

But where's the other action here?

Thanks! Emotion: smile

The British spelling is "dialogue". The American spelling is "dialog".

If you like, the "action" is that they didn't want to see a movie

The first/more recent action is contained in question A. (...see a movie last weekend)

The prior action refers to "had seen a movie the weekend before".

the weekend before = the weekend before last weekend.
