Past perfect tense usage in this sentence

If I want to say,

I remember, In 1999, I had given all of my 10th standard board examination papers in the room shown in the photo.

or

I remember, In 1999, when I was in 10th standard, I had given all of my papers in the room shown in the photo.

I am confused about these two. Sentences are more wordy and lengthy. Are these sentences correct? Can we use past perfect in such type of contexts?

Thanks in advance.

You can if there is some other, more recent past event involved— but there is none, just a past date. As they stand, there is no call for past perfect: I remember, in 1999, I gave all of my 10th standard board examination papers in the room shown in the photo. I remember, in 1999, when I was in 10th standard, I gave all of my papers in the room shown in the photo.
