Past Perfect Stuff

I've got a sentence I'd like feedback on. (This question relates to the past perfect.) Here's the context: There was a recent incident (incident A) and an incident that occurred before incident A--I'll call the latter incident B.

What I'm trying to say in the sentence is that I didn't receive a verbal warning when being criticized by the boss at the time of incident B.

In light of this, here's the sentence: "There had been just one prior incident where I was criticized by the boss, and I didn't receive a verbal warning." Does this look alright?
