Past perfect or present perfect?

Hi!
I am so confused...I am reading this sentence above:

Chris ........ been informed of the new policy last week.
a. might not have
b. might not had

And every time that I read it I change my mind.
The 'last week' confuses me. I think that the right answer is b but can somebody please explain me the reason why?

Thank you! Emotion: smile

Top answer

Chris might not have been informed of the new policy last week. 'might' is followed by 'have'. Do not bother about 'last week' because it has nothing to do with the choice of the verb that should be used.

Ooo I was focus on the phrase last week without thinking clearly and that might is a modal verb so whatever comes after it has to be in a infinitive form.

Thank you so much!
