Past Perfect Continuous VS Past Continuous: finish

Hello,

a) I had been finishing some work in the garage and I hadn't seen when she came in.

b) I was finishing some work in the garage and I didn't see when she came in.

1. Are both sentences correct?

2. If so, are there any difference between them? Even a tiny one?

3. What would you choose?
