Past perfect

Query about the following sentences:

Danny and I reminisced about how tough I had been on him and how much he could not stand me back then. He confessed that he had even printed out a picture of me and put it on his dartboard.

1) Simple past highlighted in red. Is that correct?

2) Does the second sentence implies that Danny printed out a picture first (first task), and then he confessed to the writer (second task). Is that correct?

Thanks
