It is a text about Brian Wilson of the Beach boys
Right from the beginning there had been music around the Wilson house hold. The family was a tight unit head by strict-domineering father Murry
Brian was the oldest of the three brothers ......
Why did the author choose past perfect because the event can be well situated?
to tell us at the time he was writing there was no more music in the Wilson house.
Or because it is a duration in the past that began before Brian was born
I think this one is the right explanation
