past perfect

Could you read this paragraph from a story I read yesterday and answer my question below please?
" The next day Rani woke up early, as all the people at the farm do, and he was showed around by his uncle. In a few weeks time he learnt how to milk a cow, he had seen the dairy, he knew how butter was made and he knew how to handle the farm animals.

Question : all the actions in this paragraph are in the past "woke up, learnt, knew," except the bold sentence "he had seen......" Is there anyone has any idea why the author used the past perfect in this sentence?.
Thanks in advance.

that's interesting question. It's important for introducing "he" had seen the dairy before learn how to milk, because "he" needed to learn how to get a cow milk.

Nooor Does anyone have any idea why the author used the past perfect in this sentence?.
It is because the "past tense" events "woke", "was shown" happened on the same day, "learnt" happens later on, but still in the past, but "had seen" is an earlier time than "the next day." The sequence of events is:

- he saw the dairy.
- a day o

well
well, as Veteran Member has mentioned, it's because the sequence of events

The author used "he had seen" in the past perfect tense as to let the reader understand that Rani saw the dairy before, so he learnt then how to milk, he know how butter was made and how he knew to handle the farm animals
