past perfect

Hello

Thank you for your answer ; I suppose it is the same reason to use past perfect " emphasis " in this sentence:
Now that I had found my notes I wanted to continue my essay
It is obvious than to continue the essay he was writing he needed his notes

Here is the whole paragraph

But the notes were not on my desk and I could not remember where I had put them.
I turned the whole house upside down.
And where did I find my notes?
I had left them in the sitting room, under a huge staple of papers and magazines.
Now that I had found my notes, I wanted to continue writing my essay.
