Past perfect?

The photo album is a mixture of love, beauty and great times! I was laughing so hard at the photos and it brought me back to that night of matrimony. What a wondrous occasion that night had been and I'm very grateful to be a part of it all!

Can the past perfect tense be used here? How does it describe an event before another past event?

Thanks!

PreciousJones Can the past perfect tense be used here? It can, but "was" seems better because there's nothing explicit in what you've written that indicates a past of a past. PreciousJones How does it describe an event before another past event?
