For regular (weak) verbs, it is the same as the past form, that is, adding -ed (with required spelling variations.)

For irregular (strong) verbs, you have to memorize it, although there are some patterns where the dominant vowel changes.

Some verbs add -en

break - broke - broken
bite - bit - bitten
hide - hid - hidden

Some verbs do not change form:

add ed to the verb: asked, needed, wanted, noticed (only a d is added because there already is an e)

2. Irregular verbs

The past participle is the third form of the verb: write, wrote, written; see, saw, seen
