Past or present

I thought, he could inform us when the programme would/ will start. But, now I know he himself doesn't know.

I guess, both work here & 'would' works in the present sense.

-What were you thinking?

-I was just thinking if he would mind if I ''didn't/ don't go''. What do you think? Is he going to mind?

-You better go. It's his birthday.

I guess, only 'don't' works here.

-I thought, you were listening to what I am/ was saying. But you ain't!! Why? Do I sound boring?

I guess, 'am' works here.

Actually I was just wondering whether the present or past should be used in such cases.

Please help!!

zany banana 409 I thought, he could inform us when the programme would/ will start. "will" or "would" isn't a good choice in that when -clause. Either of the following is good.
