Past or present

Hi,
If I'm asking a patient a question should I use present tense or past tense? I'd like to know if she /he has any concern.
?Is there anything particular that you were concerned about?
?Is there anything in particular that concerns you?

Thank you in advance.

Hello, If you are talking about present, use a present tense, and if you are asking about his past concern, use a past tense. Hamid

Both are fine. The first one will probably be taken as "the past of politeness". It doesn't have to refer literally to the past.
