Past means here?

Hi everyone! Could you tell me what is the meaning of "past" here?
1-He would see,in the distance,the thin line past the bench.
2-The ball gone past the fielder.
And besides the use of "past" in the above sentences in which other ways we use "past" ?

In both sentence it is refering to the place the line/ball is in relation to the fielder/bench. If the ball starts here fielder ball finishes here O X (O) In that diagram the ball passes the fielder (it wasn't stopped by him) Please note that the verb is wrong in sentence 2. The ball went past the fielder.
