Past continuous: the lifeboat drifted / was drifting

Hello everyone,

I have reviewed the Past Continuous tense and would like to ask for help with confirming if I get it right:

1) Yesterday the lifeboat drifted on the sea.
2) This time yesterday the lifeboat was drifting on the sea.
3a) Yesterday from 5 to 9 the lifeboat drifted on the sea.
3b) Yesterday from 5 to 9 the lifeboat was drifting on the sea.
