Ilooked everywhere, but she had gone. "Looked" is simple past. "She had gone" is past perfect. She went before I looked.
She said she was looking for an apartment. "Said" is simple past. "She was looking" is past continuous. She was looking continuously at some time in the past.
The first one is great, but in the second one you didn't quite follow my example. What you have written is past perfect continuous, if I'm not mistaken.
When I reached the station, the train was leaving the platform. This way, you reached the station in the simple past, and in that same time fram
