Past Continuous or present perfect

What tense is better to use?

I want to indicate my activities during my work today what should I say?

i have been checking and repairing plane's engine today ( now I am at home I have just came back and my work is finished) or is it better to use past continuous?

Thanks in advance

When you use the present perfect, it sounds as if you are doing this activity during a long time, not only today, I think the past is better in this sentence.

Neither one seems right to me.

I checked and repaired the plane's engine today. (Simple past)
