Past conditionals

CAn we say 'if i were aware of it i would have done something' instead of 'had i been aware of it i would have done something'?

I would say "If I had been aware of it, I would have done something."

Either of the two you suggest would be understood, although the first is not really -- very strictly speaking -- correct.
