Past and present perfect continuous in a sentence

Hi. Is this correct? Please look at the underlined verb part. If the present perfect tense is correct, is it correct to have a present perfect tense there too?

Q: Was anything different about last Friday's meeting?

A: The only thing was that people have been talking about it ...

The Present Perfect tense in the answer is fine. The speaker is saying that talking has happened in the period from the end of the meeting up until the time of speaking, ie 'now'.

It's not really a direct answer to the question, but it is not an unusual way to answer.
