We've been discussing some examples and still are confused:
1. The file is being processed. (Present Continuous or Progressive, Passive Voice)
2. The task is processed. - Is it Passive or just an adjective?
Looks like in #2 PROCESSED is a participle adjective while in the sentence THE FILE IS PROCESSED EVERY DAY it is a passive construction and PROCESSED is the main verb. Is it right?
You have it right. 2. is ambiguous: it could be either be an adjectival passive or a verbal one: (a) The file is processed and awaiting inspection .

2. is ambiguous: it could be either be an adjectival passive or a verbal one:
(a) The file is processed and awaiting inspection. [adjectival passive]
(b) The file is processed every day by the IT department. [verbal passive]
In (b) "is" is the matrix (main) clause verb, and "processed" is the subordinate clause verb.
