Passive Voice - I hate: when i am pointed at/being pointed at?

Hi everyone!

I have a question. Today our English teacher chceked our grammar test (Passive voice & Have sth done). There was a sentence: 'I hate when they point at me' and I converted it to: 'I hate when I am pointed at' and I got 0 points. Teacher said that it should be 'I hate being pointed at'. I think that both versions are correct and I should get points of this sentence. What do u think about that?

Yes, that is a good sentence in the passive voice, and you should've received your points.

However, I don't agree that your version is closer in meaning to the original than your teacher's answer. Closer in terms of choice of words, but not closer in meaning.

Hi,

I agree with what has been said. I'd just like to add a comment.

'I hate when they point at me'

'I hate when I am pointed at'

I know these things are said, but I would consider the following versions to be more standard English.

'I hate it when they point at me'

'I hate it when I am pointed at'
