Passive voice

please help me convert the second sentence into the passive voice.

I have been speaking to him about his problems, and I can confidently say that they are not as bad as he has convinced himself they are.

He was spoken to by me about his problems, and a conclusion was made by me in which his problems are not as bad as is thought by him.

seems about right?

right, ok. i'm thinking that there should be a 'to be' at the end of the sentence.

He was spoken to by me about his problems, and it can be said with confidence by me that his problems are not as bad as is thought by him to be.

Omit the "by me" "by me" and "by him." Why use the passive if you're going to say who did it?

He was spoken to about his problems, and it can be said with confidence that his problems were not as bad as was thought.

It's still awkward and horrible, but slightly less so.
