You need a doer who does a job of doing (executes an action) and a receiver ('sufferer') of the doing.

I'm eating a banana: the doer = 'I' ; an action = 'eating' ; the 'sufferer' of the action = 'banana'.

Now, in the passive the 'sufferer' takes the position of the subject (here 'a banana'), whereas the doer from the active voice
