0 is 'Those hills would close in on you.' an example of a passive voice, presumably those hills are closing in around you, and the hills are the object of the sentence. 0-

0The hills appear to close in on you as you drive or walk towards them. So, in that respect, no, the hills are not "actively" doing anything. As Peter has mentioned, however, the structure of your sentence is not passive. And the word 'hills' is not an object in your sentence. 0-
