passive verb ??

Mark (influence)_____ a lot by his friends, isn't he ? He should be more independent and think for himself.
A. is influenced
B. is being influenced

My answer is B but the answer in my exercise book is A. Which one is correct ? Why ?

In the sentence, either is grammatical. " we mean it is something always happens. " we mean it is something happening only at present.

In the sentence, either is grammatical. When we say, "Mark is influenced..." we mean it is something always happens.

And, when we say, "Mark is being influenced..." we mean it is something happening only at present.
