Passive to active?

Hello... I am trying to find a site to change passive to active....this site seems very helpful, even though it's vice versa....

In the sentence .. I needed a reliable vehicle and working as a bank teller was a breeze, I was told.... My grammar checker says "I was told " is not correct...I am writing a story about the past... not using passive voice in some cases is difficult...

So....my best shot.....1. someone told me. 2. I am told. 3. End the sentence after the word breeze.

I like number 3, but the sentence seems ...... boring? for lack of a better word
Thanks for your help.

Don't rely on grammar checkers. "I was told" is correct.

There is no rule that says you can't use passive voice. Sometimes passive voice is the best way to say something.

By the way, if you change it to "I am told", you're just moving it from past to present; it's still passive.
