passive or active voice?

I feel okay without my smartphone now. I've realized that not having a smartphone has certain advantages. For example, I'm not distracted by it at school, so I can concentrae better.

Q) The passage above is from the textbook I use in my school. I was wondering if the active voice is better instead of the passive voice in the underlined. "For example, it doesn't distract me at school, ...."

It's a matter of personal choice. The passive is viewed with disfavour by some these days,but it has it's place, in my opinion. In your paragraph, I feel that the passive is appropriate.
