Passionate

The following text describes this installation by Mike Kelley. Does "passionate" here mean "intense"?

Description:

A sense of ineradicable loss bursts through the dam of cultural repression and begins to break through the clinical display of these objects as art. We thereby re-encounter the unpleasurable pleasures of unbound libidinous affects, which were enacted on the bodies of these toys as ‘surrogate’ objects of the self. In exposing the passionate vicissitudes of these ‘surrogate’ objects, Kelley’s work performs a critique of Freud’s notion that art redeems loss.
