Passed vs Past

Hello

A friend and I are having a major debate as to which is the correct grammar in the below sentence. Your replies would be most appreciated and could possibly settle this debate.

a) We went passed this point

or

b) We went past this point

Top answer

b is correct. Since past and passed are pronounced the same I can understand the confusion regarding these two words.

Anonymousa) We went passed this point
This sentence has two past tense verbs which is illegal. B - is the only correct answer.
It's also ok to say "we went / passed beyond this point..."
