pass in Europe? New Concept English 3.8

The Great St. Bernard Pass connects Switzerland to Italy. At 2,473 meters, it is the highest mountain pass in Europe.

I am confused about that if there two verbs in the sentence "it is the highest mountain pass in Europe", 'is' is sure a verb, is 'pass' a verb here or not?

'Mountain pass' is a just a term for 'route', it should make sense if you replace the term with it, or just the word 'pass' for 'route'. You could also use mountain road or just road, but the best term is "mountain pass". org/wiki/Mountain_pass

PS, better not to use 'road' because not all of them are able to take cars, now that I think about it:)
