Parts of T and I

Small i has a (.) over it. This may be called a dot because it's a dot. Am I right? T has a (-) on it. What is it called? I mean the horizontal line that is drawn across on capital T and small t.

Top answer

Yes, it's a dot over the i. The horizontal line on t and T could be called a bar. In English we have an expression "dot the i's and cross the t's", meaning to take care of all the small details.

So I can say "Draw the bar on 't' when I forget to draw it."?

Yes, but say "Draw the bar on the 't'" (assuming you are talking about one particular instance of the character).
