Parts of speech question

Hi I have asked bfeore, but I am confused wiuth a few of the following.

Can you please help. I am trying to understand parts of speech, as I am self-teaching myself. Unfortunately, the book does not come with answers so I am not sure if I am right or wrong. In some questions I have put two answers as I am unsure. Please put me out of my misery?

Name the part of speech of each word in bold?
  1. In after years this brave act shall be remembered. (Adjective)
  2. The boys followed after the girls. (Preposition)
  3. Helen went first and I after. (Verb or Adverb); I am not sure on this one and any rationale would be welcome
  4. The evening was pleasant after the thunder storm had passed. (Conjunction)
  5. My friend left the next day. (Adjective)
  6. The conductor stood next to the door. (Adverb or Preposition)
  7. In the queue my mother came next to auntie. (Adverb or Preposition); I am not sure
  8. We made a round of the side-shows. (Noun)
  9. The car whizzed round the corner. (Preposition)
  10. The wheel whirled round. (Adverb)
  11. The round carpet had a most unusual design. (Adjective)
  12. I have not seen the tramp since. (Adverb)
